In a solemn tribute, former presidential candidate and Labour Party leader, Peter Obi, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of His Holiness, Pope Francis.
Sharing throwback photos of his past encounter with the late pontiff, Obi wrote:
“I received with profound sorrow the news of the passing of the Holy Father, Pope Francis. His death marks the end of another era in the spiritual and moral leadership of the Catholic Church and the wider world.”
Obi described Pope Francis as a towering figure of humility, compassion, and justice whose teachings transcended religious boundaries. He praised the Pope’s unwavering advocacy for the poor, his relentless push for peace, and his fearless voice against injustice.
