Freedom Long Denied Finally Restored: Prisoners Of Conscience Freed After Injustice And Oppression!

By Daniel Okonkwo

Injustice refers to unfair treatment or violation of rights, often leading to harm or disadvantage for an individual or group. It can take various forms, including social, economic, and environmental injustice, and can stem from factors like discrimination, unequal power dynamics, and systemic biases. Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor’s fight has always been for the good and positive.

Barrister Ifeanyi has always been in the history of fighting for the oppressed. He made history again on April 10, 2025, at the Ebonyi State High Court, as 12 Igbo inmates—part of a group of 36 held since May 24, 2021—were finally set free in compliance with successive court orders discharging and acquitting them of all charges. Pre-existing biases within institutions or systems that perpetuate unfair practices. The state has to provide resources and support to those who are disproportionately affected by injustice and not imprison them.

This victory follows a formal application by the Ebonyi State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), who, in acknowledgment of repeated judicial pronouncements, withdrew the latest charge filed against these 12 individuals. It marked a long-overdue respect for the rule of law and a reaffirmation of their innocence, which courts had upheld time and again.

Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor said, “In line with the court’s directive, I ensured the handover of the released individuals,” an order promptly complied with by the prison authorities.

Our legal team remains relentless and fully committed to securing the freedom of the remaining detainees—men who have also been discharged and acquitted by no fewer than four different High Courts in Ebonyi State.

Their release is no longer a matter of if, but when—and that moment draws closer by the day.

Justice may be delayed, but it shall not be denied.

Freedom must prevail. There’s no doubt that Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor has worked tirelessly to free so many wrongfully jailed. Posterity will know that you played a wonderful role in the freedom of mankind.
