Suspected herdsmen struck again late Friday night in Benue State, killing a security guard at the Otobi Dam, located in Otukpo Local Government Area.
The incident was confirmed by Otukpo/Akpa State Constituency lawmaker, Angbo Kennedy, who expressed deep concern over the rising insecurity.
“This is becoming too much, a guard was killed this evening at the Otobi dam by herdsmen. Please let’s watch out for each other. We must resort to self help,” he said.
As of press time, authorities had yet to release the identity of the slain guard, and no arrests had been made.
Residents have urged the Benue State Government and security agencies to boost patrols and deploy personnel to rural areas, particularly around key infrastructure like the Otobi Dam.
