A South Africa-based Nigerian man returned to Nigeria after 23 years to claim the property he had been sending money for. However, his family took him to an Islamic cleric (Alfa), where he was held against his will and labeled a madman.
The man, who introduced himself as Bayo Salami, explained that he is based in Cape Town, South Africa, and owns a business called Kuvuki Empire.
He is also a top show promoter in South Africa and has organized major events for popular Nigerian artists such as Davido, Wizkid, M.I, and Banky W. To verify his claims, he stated that people could find him on social media platforms like Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube under his company name.
Further explaining his ordeal, Bayo revealed that upon arriving in Nigeria, he asked his family about his properties. They claimed the properties were still under development, but he chose not to argue and simply requested to return to South Africa.
However, his family insisted on taking him to an Alfa for prayers, saying it would bring him God’s blessings. Trusting them, he agreed. But upon arriving, the cleric asked him to enter a room, supposedly for prayers. To his shock, the cleric suddenly pushed him inside and locked the door.
Inside, he found other individuals who had been held there for over a year in terrible living conditions. Bayo was kept there against his will for 17 days.
When asked how he survived, he explained that his family occasionally brought him food, sometimes twice a day.
As for why he was taken there, his family claimed it was because he smoked cigarettes. Expressing his disbelief, he said, “I have been to Dubai, where they don’t drink alcohol but smoke cigarettes. Nowhere in the Quran or Bible is smoking cigarettes forbidden. I am not a drunk.”
