The State Monitoring Cell (SMC) seized 149.50 gms of cocaine worth Rs 1.5 crore from a Nigerian woman in the city.
The woman, who lives in Mumbai’s suburban Mira Road.
SMC inspector CH Panara said they got information that a woman would be coming to Surat in a car to deliver cocaine from Mumbai. Based on the tip-off, the SMC sleuths kept a watch on the national highway in Navsari and intercepted the car.
When questioned, the woman revealed that Elder, a man from Nigeria, had instructed her to collect the contraband from Emanuel in Mumbai and deliver it to a person in Kadodara.
The woman confessed to having come to Surat and Navsari to deliver the drugs 10-12 times in the past 18 months.
