Former Rivers State Governor and former Minister of Transportation, His Excellency, *Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi*, CON, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of elder statesman and Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark, who died at the age of 97.
In his condolence message, Amaechi described Chief Clark as a respected nationalist, a fearless advocate for justice, and a pillar of the Niger Delta struggle. He acknowledged the late leader’s immense contributions to Nigeria’s political landscape, noting that his legacy of service, leadership, and advocacy for equity will be remembered for generations.
“My heartfelt condolences go to the family of Chief Edwin Clark, the Ijaw nation, and all those who were impacted by his leadership. His passing is a great loss to Nigeria, but his ideals and dedication to justice will continue to inspire many,” Amaechi said.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of Chief Clark’s soul and for strength for his loved ones in this difficult time.
