Governor Okpebholo of Edo State was received at Benin Airport today by his Commissioner for Hype Affairs, a move that has sparked criticism from local residents.
Many indigenes have expressed their discontent with the governor, accusing him of a lack of performance since taking office. Critics argue that he is more focused on surrounding himself with praise singers and sycophants than on addressing the state’s pressing issues.
In response to a video of the governor’s arrival, Architect Davies Osaro voiced his frustration: “I am disgusted. This man is the worst thing to happen to us in Edo. We have never had it this bad in our state.”
Another resident, Sarah Amafe Adesuwa, lamented the state of affairs under the current administration. “Since he took office, the governor has brought nothing but disgrace to the state. I no longer feel proud to talk about Edo. I can’t recognize my state; everywhere is dirty, and the only thing the governor cares about is praise singing from some jobless youths whenever he returns from his meaningless travels. I really hope the tribunal saves us from this calamity.”
Governor Okpebholo was declared the winner of the Edo election on September 21st, a victory currently being contested at the tribunal amid allegations of irregularities, rigging, and over-voting.
