Abia Govt warns against bribery, extortion in teachers recruitment exercise

The Abia State government has warned against all forms of bribery and extortion of job seekers in the teachers employment exercise approved by Governor Alex Otti.

Otti had last week approved the employment of more than two thousand teachers in a bid to revive education and address the shortage of teachers in the state.

It was gathered thousands of job seekers have applied for the teaching jobs.

The state government has raised the alarm that some of the desperate job seekers may fall into “unpatriotic elements” who it said, have positioned themselves to hijack the exercise by extorting and defrauding the applicants.

A statement issued by Ferdinand Ekeoma, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, said said that the recruitment exercise would be transparent.

The recruitment is being conducted through online application by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education
