Gunmen Kill 3 In Anambra

Ihiala town experienced another tragic day on Monday as gunmen killed three individuals, reportedly for disobeying a sit-at-home order.

A well-known businessman, popularly called Oluebube, was shot dead at his rental company site while supervising workers mounting canopies for a ceremony. According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen stormed the venue, opened fire on him, and caused panic as people fled the scene.

In a separate incident near the Ihiala Local Government Secretariat, two security operatives attached to the council were killed in cold blood. The council chairman, Charles Orjiako, expressed profound sorrow over the attack.

“We are deeply saddened to announce the gruesome murder of two security personnel and the injury of another in a dastardly attack that occurred today, December 30th, in front of the Local Government Secretariat, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State,” Orjiako said.

He added, “We are deeply pained by this senseless killing of our security personnel, who were working tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of our people. We condemn this act in its entirety and call on the perpetrators to surrender themselves to the authorities or face the consequences of their actions.”

The chairman assured the public that the council remains committed to maintaining security in the area despite the setback. “We will not be deterred by this act of violence. Instead, we will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of our people and bring the perpetrators to justice.”

He expressed solidarity with the families of the fallen security personnel, promising full support during this difficult period.

Orjiako further urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and report any suspicious activity to security agencies as efforts to apprehend the assailants continue.
