Tinubu First President To Remember Igbo Since Civil War – Benjamin Kalu

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has commended President Bola Tinubu for prioritizing the development of the Igbo ethnic group,Igbere TV reports.

Speaking at an empowerment programme in Ndoki, Ukwa East, on Saturday, Kalu described Tinubu as the first leader to address the South East’s needs since the Nigerian Civil War.

According to Kalu, Tinubu’s signing of the South East Development Commission (SEDC) into law underscores his commitment to the region’s growth. He noted that the SEDC aims to tackle the South East’s infrastructure challenges and initiate long-overdue post-war reconstruction.

“The president has tried for Ndigbo and is still trying. He is the only man that remembered Ndigbo after 54 years, fulfilling the promise of reconstruction, reconciliation, and rehabilitation,” Kalu stated.

The event also witnessed over 3,000 individuals from various political parties defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC), a move attributed to Tinubu’s leadership and focus on equity and development.

Kalu emphasized the APC’s growing grassroots influence, saying, “As the leader of our party, [Tinubu] has tasked us with bringing the grassroots closer to the politics of development he is championing for Igbo land.”

Welcoming the new APC members, Kalu assured them of the party’s commitment to inclusivity and development, saying, “For joining APC, it shall be well with you. APC has come closer to the people.”
