A popular activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has knocked the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, describing him as a land grabber, Igbere TV reports.
Adeyanju claims Wike is too small to stop landowners who lost their properties from reclaiming them.
He said on social media, “All the land the land grabber is stealing in Abuja will be collected back. Even Northerners who were FCT Ministers couldn’t steal Abuja land, is it now villager of Obio/Akpor wearing fake designers and looking like a clown that will steal Abuja land? Wike is too small.”
Wike has faced criticism for revoking land allocations within the FCT and reallocating them to his cronies. The Minister, through the FCTA, has been demolishing structures deemed illegal in estates and shanties in Abuja, citing security risks and government ownership.
Amid the backlash, Wike vowed never to succumb to blackmailers, saying, “Let me use this opportunity to tell Nigerians that we are not afraid of blackmail, infact; you can’t be in this kind of position and not be blackmailed particularly as regards Abuja.
“There are so many land grabbers, some of us have come to put our foot down and let heaven fall, it’s even better that heaven comes down now so that we will not be fasting to go to heaven.”
On Thursday, the Senate formed a committee to look at the complaints received and directed the minister to halt further demolition.
