Shallipopi Accuses Dapper Music Of Mishandling Finances, Quits Label

Nigerian musician, Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi, has officially parted ways with his record label, Dapper Music.

The singer, whose partnership with Dapper Music catapulted him into the spotlight in 2023, had been the subject of rumours about the split.

Releasing an official statement on his Instagram page today, December 11, 2024, he wrote: “I’m officially ending my agreements with Dapper Music and Dvpper Digital. This wasn’t a choice I made lightly, but it’s a step I had to take after my trust was broken, my finances mishandled, and my rights as an artist were disregarded

“This is bigger than just me. It’s about every artist and creator who pours their soul into their work, only to face betrayal and exploitation from people who should be looking out for them. It’s about standing up for fairness, integrity, and the respect that we all deserve.”

Adding more to the reasons he left, the Elon Musk crooner alleged that Dapper Music and Entertainment Limited pushed him into a deal with Dvpper Digital Limited, another company owned by the same person(s).

“Instead of prioritizing my growth, they prioritised their own profits, putting my career and dreams at risk. Dvpper Digital Limited, as a distributor, will give advance to Dapper Music and Entertainment Limited under my name and catalogue, while Dapper Music and Entertainment Limited continues to squander the same, all without my knowledge and approval. This debt has now accrued up to a huge sum of money we are even yet to ascertain,” he added.

A look at Shallipopi’s social media reveals he has removed all references to Dapper Music from his profile and even unfollowed the label’s boss.

Shallipopi’s exit comes not long after he launched his own label, Plutomania Records, with rising stars Zerry DL and Tega Boi already signed on as the first artistes.

His decision to start Plutomania hints at his desire to carve his own path in the music industry.

Shallipopi’s departure follows the recent exit of Seyi Vibez, another big name who also parted ways with Dapper Music months ago.
