Court Orders Arrest Of Polaris Bank MD, Manager Over N1 Billion Tax Evasion Case

Justice Maimuna Abubakar of Niger State High Court 6 has issued an arrest warrant for the Managing Director of Polaris Bank, Omokayode Lawal, and the Minna Branch Manager for contempt of court.

The Niger State Internal Revenue Service (NSIRS) initiated legal proceedings against the bank officials, alleging their refusal to remit tax liabilities amounting to over N1 billion.

Both defendants failed to appear in court during a session held on Tuesday. Their absence prompted Justice Abubakar to issue the arrest warrant, citing their disregard for court summons.

In her ruling, the judge directed law enforcement authorities to apprehend the defendants. The case was adjourned to 13 December 2024 for their arraignment.
