The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, warmly received the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, upon his arrival at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Tuesday night.
President Steinmeier, who is in Nigeria for a three-day state visit, was greeted by Minister Wike with a symbolic gesture—the presentation of the key to the city of Abuja, a tradition signifying honor and hospitality.
The German President’s visit underscores the strengthening of bilateral relations between Nigeria and Germany. During his stay, Steinmeier is expected to hold high-level discussions with Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other key officials. He will also meet with Alieu Omar Touray, President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission, to discuss regional cooperation and shared priorities.
