Ex-gov Emmanuel Charges Journalists on Professionalism, Urges Positive Reportage For Gov Eno 

Social engineering, political stability, economic enhancement and leadership accountability, as core values, have been canvassed as targets for journalists by the immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, CON.

Similarly, the sustenance of objectivity and fairness in the reportage of the activities of Pastor Umo Eno, as noted, would further encourage the birth of more people-oriented projects and programmes in Akwa Ibom State.

 

Speaking at the Nigeria Union of Journalists dinner and awards night which climaxed this year’s weeklong events of the media family, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, took out time to urge gentlemen of the noble profession to always maintain the basics of the vocation geared towards society building.

Commenting on the NUJ Award of Honour, former Governor Udom Emmanuel, represented by his brother, Mr. Ekerete Emmanuel who was accompanied by his brother Mr Gabriel Nkanang, to the event, acknowledged the role of journalists in shaping social discourse which is aimed at regulating the society positively.

He promised to further dedicate himself to serving humanity and urged members of the NUJ to remain steadfast in the discharge of their duty as the conscience of the society.

 

Mr Ekerete Emmanuel regretted the inability of the former Governor to make it to the event personally owning to personal engagements outside the State, but announced that Mr Udom Emmanuel holds the Union in high regards and will continue to give his support and encouragement to the success of the Union.

 

The Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ini Ememobong represented Governor Umo Eno at the Dinner/Awards Night.

The ceremony which was chaired by the Chairman of the Maintain Peace Movement, Mr Emmanuel Enoidem, SAN, also featured honours on members of the Union and other outstanding personalities admitted into the Union’s roll of honours.
