Colombian authorities have arrested Karen Julieth Ojeda Rodriguez, a 23-year-old hitwoman infamously known by the alias “La Muñeca,” or “The Doll.” She has been implicated in several high-profile murders, including the recent assassination of her former boyfriend, Deyvy Jesus.
According to the Magdalena Medio Police, Rodriguez orchestrated the murder of Deyvy on July 23 in Piedecuesta, a rural region in Colombia. Under the guise of resolving a financial dispute, she lured her ex-boyfriend into an ambush where two gunmen fatally shot him. The brazen attack was reportedly carried out at the behest of the notorious gang Los de la M, with whom Rodriguez is allegedly affiliated.
At the time of her arrest, Rodriguez was described as the leader of a group of hitmen who had been terrorizing the municipality of Barrancabermeja. She was apprehended alongside two accomplices, Paula Valentina Joya Rueda, 24, also known as “Gorda Sicaria” or “Fat Hitwoman,” and another individual identified only as “Leopoldo.” Police confiscated a revolver and a 9-millimeter pistol during the arrests and are investigating whether these weapons were used in the recent killings.
Lieutenant Colonel Mauricio Herrara of the Magdalena Medio Police stated that Rodriguez’s arrest marks a significant victory in the fight against organized crime in the region. “With the arrest of ‘La Muñeca’ and ‘Leopoldo,’ a period of calm has been created in the region,” he said. “These arrests represent progress in dismantling the criminal structures responsible for the recent homicides.”
