Suspected Gang Members Kill Two People In Ogun

Two people were killed in the early hours of Monday within the Government Reservation Area of Ibara in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, by unknown gunmen.

This information was shared in a statement released to the press by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, on Monday.

Odutola also reported that two other individuals sustained gunshot injuries and that three armed men were involved in the incident. According to the PPRO, the event occurred around 12:30 a.m. at a parking lot of a social venue in the area.

She noted that the three armed men, driving an unregistered black Toyota Hilux, confronted the occupants of a black Mercedes Benz with a DLA license plate, demanding the car keys.

” Three armed men in an unregistered black Toyota Hilux confronted the occupants of a black Mercedes Benz GLE 350 with a DLA license plate, demanding the car keys.

” The assailants opened fire, hitting one Ola (surname unknown), one Shobanke Oluwatimileyin and two others.

” The Divisional Police Officer from Ibara, responding to distress calls, arrived at the scene and ensured the area was secure before transporting the victims to the hospital.

” Upon their arrival, the attending doctor confirmed two fatalities, while the other two individuals are receiving medical attention at the Federal Medical Centre, Idi Aba, Abeokuta,” she said.
The police spokesperson hinted that a preliminary investigation had been initiated to examine the factors leading to the two deaths and to assess any potential links to cult activities.

” The public will be informed about the progress of the investigation in the coming days, as a follow-up to arrest the fleeing suspects,” she said.

In a related development, gunmen suspected to be cultists have killed a man whose wedding was scheduled for December in Edo, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) has reported.

The victim, simply identified as Danladi, was reportedly killed at a friend’s shop located about 100 metres from the Esigie Police Division in Oredo Local Government Area, one of the municipal council areas in the state.

A source, who pleaded anonymity, said Danladi was sitting in the shop when the gunmen emerged from a GLK Mercedes Benz SUV and shot him twice at close range.

Danladi was an easygoing guy. He was the son of Seriki Hausa in the area.

β€œHe had started sending invitation cards for his wedding to guests. He was billed to tie the knot with his partner in December,” the source said.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Moses Yamu, regretted the renewed cult killings in the state.
