Abia LP Crisis: Igara Speaks On Arrest, Accuses Otti Of Impersonation

The embattled Vice Chairman of Labour Party, South East zone, Mr. Ceekay Igara has broken silence following his arrest last weekend by officials of Abia State police command, saying he has done nothing wrong.

Speaking on Monday, Igara a former Chairman of the Labour Party in Abia state said he is only carrying out an assignment given to him by the national leadership of the Labour Party, saying the allegations of impersonation, fraud, and obtaining by false pretense leveled against him by some group in Abia is false.

He instead accused the acting Chairman of LP in Abia, Emmanuel Otti of impersonation, saying Otti has been dissolved by the national leadership of LP and cannot remain or be addressed as the acting chairman in the state.

The crisis in LP Abia state had taken a new twist ahead of the local government election in which the list of candidates cleared to stand for the election by the national leadership is different from the one cleared by the state chapter.

The court had recognized Julius Abure as the national chairman of the party, in whose faction Igara belongs to but Otti is acting on the instruction of a caretaker committee headed by a former Minister, Nenadi Sambo.

But Igara said Otti does not stand on the authority of national leadership, accusing him of impersonation.

He also denied extorting anything from anyone, insisting that the allegations were untrue.
