As the people of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area welcome Governor Umo Eno for the commissioning of the newly constructed Spring Road today, a widow, Mrs. Christiana Michael Tom, of Atan village will have a life personally changed.
The 1.1-kilometer lifeline project connects the renowned Goretti Girls Secondary School, ending over a decade of hardship for students, teachers, and residents.
The road, including a 0.875km discharge drain, is executed by an indigenous firm, U & K Limited.
But for Madam Christiana Tom, who is also from the benefiting community of the road project, it is double joy as her homeless scenario will be transformed into a new paradigm of a modern house owner.
Governor Eno through his ARISE Compassionate Home initiative, is gifting her a fully furnished two-bedroom bungalow with solar-powered amenities.
The Special Assistant to the Governor on Humanitarian Affairs, Elder Nsikan Umoekpo, said the house in Atan, Ikot Ekpene, is one of the new sets of houses that Governor Eno is donating to homeless people in his target of completing 200 compassionate homes in his second year in office.
