Abuja, October 18, 2024 – Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has extolled the virtues of the late President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, describing him as “a patriotic and detribalized leader” who dedicated his life to promoting peace, unity, and progress in Nigeria.
“This evening, I attended the Service of Songs for the late President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, in Abuja,” Senator Kalu said. “Chief Iwuanyanwu was a true Nigerian leader who worked tirelessly to foster peace, unity, and progress in our great nation.”
Kalu praised Iwuanyanwu’s commitment to national development, noting his impactful contributions to various sectors, including sports, governance, media, and aviation.
“His legacy will continue to inspire generations to come,” Kalu added.
The Service of Songs, held at the National Ecumenical Centre, Abuja, on October 18, 2024, was attended by prominent Nigerians, including former President Goodluck Jonathan, former Senate Presidents Anyim Pius Anyim and Adolphus Wabara, and former Imo Governors Achike Udenwa and Emeka Ihedioha.
Iwuanyanwu’s burial ceremonies will continue with events in Enugu on October 26, Owerri on October 29, a commendation service on October 31, and his final interment on November 1 in Imo State.
