New information has surfaced after a meeting between Senator Bala Mohammed, Governor of Bauchi State and Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, and the party’s Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagun, held at the Bauchi Government House on Friday.
The governor reiterated the party’s dedication to addressing its internal issues.
This assurance was made during a solidarity visit by the North-East leadership of the PDP, headed by the acting national chairman, Damagun.
“I am happy to receive stakeholders from the Northeast, who have always supported me as Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum. The Northeast is the center of politicking in Nigeria, strengthening our bond. I have gotten firsthand information on the party’s challenges, and we will address them. We will come out stronger, united, and prepared for the 2027 elections,” Mohammed said.
On his part, Damagun said, “We are here to appreciate Governor Mohammed’s leadership and reiterate our commitment to the party. The Northeast is one, and we believe in the Governors’ Forum’s leadership. We will work together to overcome our challenges and ensure the PDP’s victory in 2027.”
It should be noted that the party on Friday got divided into two factions. The faction led by Damagun in a statement suspended Debo Ologunagba, the party’s national publicity secretary, and Kamaldeen Ajibade, the national legal adviser.
Moments later, another statement signed by Ologunagba announced the suspension of the PDP Acting National Chairman, and the national secretary, Samuel Anyanwu.
