Sanwo-Olu Govt Tells Lagosians To Apply For Military Jobs

The Lagos State administration, led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has voiced concerns about the low rate of military enrollment among the state’s citizens.

Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, the State Government Secretary, pointed out that not many people from Lagos State are applying to join the military at a quarterly meeting with the Chairman and members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Ikeja.

Salu-Hundeyin underlined on Wednesday that military service is an essential commitment to the state and the country, and that maintaining national security is a shared duty. She expressed concern about the low enrollment of young people from the area, which was especially noticeable during the most recent recruitment drive. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

She also mentioned that the federal government had decreed that 150 positions be allotted to each state for military recruitment, in an equitable manner.

“We found that Lagos State has been gravely mistreated by the Nigerian military.” There aren’t many people there. Thus, we are examining this chance to ensure that it doesn’t elude Native Americans once more.

“The security of a country is what the military does, and everyone has a responsibility to ensure that a nation is secure.

“It shouldn’t be limited to a specific group, but because not everyone can wear a uniform, the government has the foresight to announce that those who wish to apply will be hired for the position.

“Unfortunately, in Lagos State, our children don’t like to join the military. They don’t see any reason they should be part of the army. If your state does not participate, you are short-changing your state,” Salu-Hundeyin said.
