WORLD TOURISM DAY: J.Martins Urges Peace to Promote Tourism

As Nigeria joins the global community in celebrating World Tourism Day, singer and current Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment to Abia State Governor Mr. Okey Justice Martins (J.Martins) has emphasized the crucial role of peace in bridging cultural gaps and boosting economic development in the state.

This year’s theme, “Tourism and Peace,” resonates deeply with J.Martins’ vision for Abia State. Despite the state’s decision to forgo festivities due to other pressing commitments, J.Martins in a press statement released to the press on Friday stressed that promoting tourism and peace remains a top priority.

According to J.Martins, who was recently voted by Nigerians as the 2024 Tourism Icon of the Year, preserving cultural and natural heritage can reduce tensions and foster peaceful coexistence. He also highlighted tourism’s potential to promote economic interdependence among neighbors, encouraging cooperation and peaceful development.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to tourism development, J.Martins will receive the prestigious award at the upcoming 2024 LEEX Awards holding November 2 at the Nigeria Air Force NAF Banquet Hall in Abuja.

By championing peace and tourism, J.Martins aims to create a more harmonious and prosperous Abia State, aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that promote peace, dignity, and equality.
