Auchi, Edo State, Nigeria – September 20, 2024
A devastating incident occurred Friday morning in Auchi, leaving the community in shock. A lecturer, Mr Rasheed of Auchi Polytechnic was allegedly killed by his younger brother, Omoh.
According to eyewitnesses, the tragedy unfolded when Rasheed was attending a funeral ceremony at the Auchi burial ground. Omoh called him away from the event, claiming he needed to show him something. Rasheed left the ceremony and met Omoh on Solo Street, Iyekhei Heritage Zone of Auchi Sacred Kingdom, where he was fatally shot.
Outraged community members pursued Omoh, apprehended him, and brought him back to the crime scene. In a shocking turn of events, the community took the law into their own hands and burnt Omoh to ashes.
“Rasheed was in #Auchi burial ground yesterday morning, they went to bury one woman when the younger brother called him to come and he wanted to show him something though he has been threatening to k!ll him.”
“He left the burial ground to meet him, and that was how he sho@t him and ran away but the community boys searched for him, brought him to the spot he sh@ot his brother and burnt him to ashes.”
Local sources indicate that the killing may be linked to a long-standing family feud. Omoh believed Rasheed was responsible for the imprisonment of his twin brother, Odion, abroad. Omoh allegedly visited a native doctor who claimed Rasheed was progressing at the expense of his siblings’ destinies.
“They are three boys of the parent. One is abroad but in prison, according to people, that was one of their misunderstandings, the k!ller claimed that his elder brother #Rasheed was not doing anything to release their brother, that he went to #Native_doctor and he was told that #Rasheed is progressing because he used their destiny”, an eyewitness said.
This tragic incident has left the family reeling, losing two young men within hours. The community remains shaken, and authorities are urged to investigate and address the underlying issues.
The police have been notified, and
an investigation is pending.
