ABSIEC Sets Stage for Abia LG Polls, Invites Political Parties for Stakeholders Meeting

 

Umuahia – Following its inauguration by Governor Alex Otti on September 5, 2024, the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) has begun preparations for the upcoming Local Government Chairmanship and Counsellorship elections, IgbereTV reports.

As part of this process, ABSIEC in a press statement signed by Dr. Kelechi Okere and sent to IgbereTV, invited party chairmen and secretaries of the 18 registered political parties to a stakeholders meeting. The event will take place on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the ABSIEC Headquarters Conference Hall in Umuahia.

 

 

“The Commission is committed to conducting free, fair, and credible elections,” said Professor George N. Chima, ABSIEC Chairman.

 

 

 

 

“We are set to unveil our program of activities to ensure a smooth electoral process,” Professor Chima added.

 

 

Commissioner Il, Dr. Kelechi Kemjika Okere, emphasized the importance of this meeting in promoting transparency and collaboration among stakeholders.

 

The statement reads in part

 

“Sequel to the inauguration of the Commission, Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC), on the 5th of September by the Executive Governor of Abia State Dr Alex Otti.

 

“The Commission has since commenced its primary assignment in earnest to ensure that a free, fair and credible Local Government Chairmanship and Counsellorship elections is conducted in Abia State.

 

“The Chairman of the Commission Professor George N. Chima will on Saturday the 21st of September, 2024 unveil the program of activities of the Commission to Abians and all relevant Political Stakeholders at Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC)

Headquarter Conference Hall, Ugurube Layout, Umuahia.

 

“The Party Chairman and Secretaries of the 18 registered Political Parties are by this notice invited to attend this meeting;”
