Igbere, Abia State – In a move aimed at revitalizing traditional worship and promoting spiritual unity, Doctor Amadi Jr., the newly appointed Chief Priest of Eke-Igbere Shrine/Altar, has returned to his hometown of Igbere in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.
The Chief Priest’s homecoming was marked with a sacred ceremony, where he presented a fowl and Ebule as sacrifices to Almighty God and the ancestors, fulfilling a divine instruction.
In a press release personally signed by Dr. Amadi and sent to IgbereTV, the chief priest said his act, inspired by the biblical examples of Prophet Abraham, Moses, and Jesus Christ, seeks to reconnect the community with its spiritual heritage.
“I have returned home to thank Almighty God (Obasi bu na elu) and our late Chief priest of Eke-Igbere shrine and our ancestors,” Doctor Amadi Jr. said. “I want to show the light and lead others to our ancestral heritage, so that my people, whom God has given to me, can return to traditional worship and worship Almighty God freely.”
The Chief Priest emphasized the importance of freedom of religion and worship, encouraging those interested in traditional practices to devote themselves to the laws and teachings of Almighty God. “There is freedom of religion and worship in Igbere and Nigeria,” he stressed. “Those who wish to follow our tradition are free, but must be devoted, dedicated, and follow the laws.”
Doctor Amadi Jr. also addressed the misconception about human sacrifice in traditional worship. “God hates and condemns human sacrifice,” he cited from biblical references (Deut. 12:31, Deut. 18:21, Leviticus 18:21, Jeremiah 19:4-6, Psalm 106:37-38, Ezekiel 16:20). “We traditional worshipers give glory to God Almighty and thank our ancestors who brought us to this world.”
Witnesses reported a supernatural miracle during the sacrifice, testifying to the power of Almighty God and the ancestors. The Eke-Igbere Shrine/Altar has long served as a spiritual sanctuary for the children of EBIRI OKOMOKO, ensuring protection and safety.
The Chief Priest appealed to Nigerians to remain patient and prayerful, particularly for the country’s leaders. “I urge Nigeria to be patient in whatever they are passing through and continue to put the leaders of this country in prayer for God to touch their heart for good,” he prayed.
Doctor Amadi Jr. also called on the Igbo people to rediscover their ancestral roots and recognize the Almighty God, rather than foreign deities. “The Igbos have gone astray for worshipping foreign gods and forgot to recognize the Almighty God and the spirit of the land, Ibina-Ukpabi, from Arochukwu, that led the foundation of the Shrines and Altars of our Igbo ancestors.”
In conclusion, Doctor Amadi Jr. blessed the community, saying, “God bless Igbere (Ebiri OKOMOKO), God bless Abia State (God’s Own State), and God bless Nigeria (One love). Peace (UDO).”
