Trust Comment: Gov Eno Not Ready To Be An Armchair Governor

The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, is not an armchair Governor who seats in the comfort of a luxurious office to give instructions, sign memos and receive reports.

Rather he is showing practical demonstration of a leader who is leading from the front, by constantly, personally and regularly inspecting projects by himself.

Governor Eno’s Senior Special Assistant on Research and Documentation, Dr. Essien Ndueso stated these in a Cable Television – ADBN interview programme Niger Delta Today.

Reacting to a comment anchored on trust, attributed to the Governor, Dr Ndueso said trust enhanced by verification, is an old Russian Phrase made popular by former President of the United States Ronald Reagan, and explained that the principle champions accountability and innovation, while ensuring a steadfast commitment to excellence.

He said by adopting that principle, the Governor wants to ensure that there is no abandoned project, and that there is utmost adherence to top quality and standard in projects execution.

“By going beyond trusting people on face value, Governor Eno personally leads to inspect his projects and only recently, he announced the establishment of a delivery unit to be coordinated by an Executive Advisor, in his office to further strengthen the projects implementation system in the State.

He said that the State has more than enough reasons to celebrate its 37th anniversary of creation, especially with the spate of attainments in infrastructural development, free education, qualitative healthcare and security.

“Governor Umo Eno inherited a State that was adjudged very peaceful, but he has raised the stake by institutionalizing security through the establishment of the Ministry of Internal Security and Waterways, the Ibom Community Watch and several youth empowerment and human capacity enhancement initiatives.

He said the 2024 anniversary of the State’s creation would resonate more with the downtrodden and less privilege who are currently getting free food items from the Governor, free shelters and other incentives.

“Governor Eno is adopting a bottom to top approach model, which means that those who ordinarily would have not accessed the Governor, including the vulnerable, the neediest, the physically challenged, the less privileged ones, the retired civil servants, are the first to be touched by the various government’s compassion driven programmes.
