The Benue State Government has sealed Oracle Business Limited and its subsidiaries over allegations of tax evasion amounting to N130 million, reportedly owed over the past five years.
During a press briefing, Sunday Odagba, the acting Executive Chairman of the Benue State Board of Internal Revenue, emphasized that the enforcement was part of an effort to recover taxes from corporate entities owing the state.
Odagba also dismissed claims of political persecution by Oracle Business Limited, which alleged that the tax liability was previously reviewed to N38 million, a sum it claims to have paid.
The company, owned by former Governor Samuel Ortom, has maintained that its closure was politically motivated.
However, state tax officials clarified that the company had not settled its full tax obligations and had failed to meet for reconciliation despite multiple invitations.
