Youths in the country, especially in Osun State, have been urged to shun the proposed protest and keep faith in President Bola Tinubu’s capability to revamp the economy.
This appeal was made by a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye.
Oyintiloye stated that Nigerians should see a promising future in the present administration’s framework, which will pull the country out of the current economic quagmire inherited from past administrations.
The APC chieftain made these remarks while speaking with journalists on Thursday in Osogbo. He emphasized that Nigerians’ expectations to receive the dividends of democracy from the present administration are understandably high, given their trust in Tinubu’s pedigree as an astute manager of people and resources.
He, however, said the government is working tirelessly to meet these expectations. The inherited economic challenges, global economic crisis, and the unavoidable policies introduced by the present administration are gradually moving towards fruition.
Oyintiloye, a former lawmaker, explained that the president’s intention in removing the fuel subsidy and merging the foreign exchange, among other policies, was to improve the economy and not to inflict pain on Nigerians.
The APC chieftain urged Nigerians to give the president more time to fully develop the economy, which is currently going through a recovery process.
“With all sense of humility and modesty, we must appreciate the people of this country for their endurance, perseverance, and unflinching support as we pass through this dark tunnel.
“But one thing that is certain is that after these temporary pains, we shall all live in abundance.
“Although the task is herculean, we are gradually navigating through the storm and challenges the country is facing.
“In the real sense, this present government is working tirelessly to stabilize the economy, foreign exchange rates, inflation, and price control.
“With the initiatives and programs designed for good governance by the president, we are getting closer to self-sufficiency and economic stability.
“Our people should believe in the leadership of the president and the Renewed Hope Agenda of his administration. In due course, we shall laugh last.
“I strongly believe that with a little patience from Nigerians, we shall soon live in abundance. Let’s exercise a little patience.”
Oyintiloye noted that the president understands the pain Nigerians are experiencing, which is why he pleaded for their patience.
He assured that the president has a listening ear and will do the needful to address the concerns of all Nigerians
