House Of Reps Deputy Speaker Rep. Benjamin Okezie Kalu Inaugurated as a Member of the Pan African Parliament

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu has been Inaugurated as a Member of the Pan African Parliament at the Opening Ceremony of the 3rd Ordinary Session of the 6th Parliament held today in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Deputy Speaker While delivering his goodwill remarks, Iemphasized the need for Africa as a continent to pay critical attention to the disturbing reports of lack of progress towards the attainment of Sustainable Development Goal 4 on education (SDG4).

“As a country, Nigeria has remained aligned with the cause of embracing and implementing modern learning systems to enhance educational access and quality. This involves increased funding for schools, scholarships, and initiatives like free school meals. This commitment has also informed the initiation and passage of the Student Loan (Access to Higher Education) Act in 2023 and its ensuing operationalization earlier this year after being assented to by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu”

“Through our collective efforts, we can establish a clear continental data-driven mechanism for interventions, as we are currently undertaking in Nigeria, and further ensure that our objectives and goals articulated in this session are reflected in our national budget priorities. With an objective focused on inclusive growth and eradicating multidimensional poverty, as well as other economic challenges that impede access to quality education”he said.
