Immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel has been hailed for being a blessing to the family of the deputy Governor of the State.
He has also been described as an instrument that God used to save the life of Senator Akon Eyakenyi during the unfortunate Reigners Bible Church collapse over 7 years ago.
At a wedding ceremony of her daughter Blessing with Olumuyiwa Adewumi, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, the deputy Governor saluted Mr Udom Emmanuel and his wife Martha, for the role they played in the training of her daughter.
She also maintained that it was in the course of paying the fees graciously sent by the Governor that she had to leave the church building momentarily, few minutes before the disaster hit the church.
“Blessing has another father and mother, when she was growing up , that is the immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel and the wife.
“When she was doing her Masters in the US, the then Governor and the wife took Blessing from me and the training throughout that period was handled by the Governor until she returned from the US, it was a great sacrifice.
“Since then, Governor Udom Emmanuel has always been infront to tell Blessing I was there before you. Sir, God bless you.
I have given this testimony before, I’ll give it again today. I stand a living person today because of that sacrifice that the former Governor did, if you people remember 10th December 2016, the church collapsed, it was one of the school fees he paid that took me out of that church, just a second and the church collapsed.
“Where I sat, people were injured seriously but God used him. I’m today alive, I thank you.
The deputy Governor had earlier appreciated the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno for accepting her as part of his team and always standing by her family.
“God has used the Governor to be a great blessing to our family and to the children seated here today.
“I lack words to appreciate him. He knows that truly, truly I appreciate my Governor for everything,
“I want to say thank you. May God bless you and your wife”, she told the Governor.
She described Governor Eno as “a great visioner, a lover of the people, a man who can stake to defend his own”, while acknowledging the State’s First Lady, Pastor Patience Eno, as a “sweet mother” of the State.
The deputy governor also appreciated the Wife of the Country’s President, who was represented by Hon Princess Gloria Akobundu.
“My first Lady, represented, tell the first Lady,I truly appreciate, the vice president, represented thank you very much, mummy SGF, thank you.
Speaking at the occasion, Governor Eno appreciated the guests for visiting the State, explaining that State remains one of the most peaceful and investment friendly in the country.
Harping on the need for consistent support for the country’s leaders; the Governor urged everyone to be gear towards contributing to the task of nation building.
He congratulated the two families for coming together through the union of their children and sued for prayers for the young couple.
Pastor Eno said the union has further made Ekiti people Inlaws with Akwa Ibomites.
“Our job is to allow them grow together, make their own errors, and learn.
“There are no appointments of special advisers. Please both parents, allow them to work by themselves, and learn. Those mistakes are part of the learning curve”, the Governor told the couple.
