Kidnapped Army Captain, Abalaka Disarms Kidnapper, Rescues Self, Others In Kogi

An Army officer, Captain J.O. Abalaka (N/15198) has regained freedom after he reportedly successfully disarmed a member of the kidnap gang that abducted him in Kogi State.

SaharaReporters learnt that Abalaka was abducted last week along Ekpoma/Okene/Lokoja Road.

The incident reportedly occurred while Abalaka was reporting to his new unit at the operational headquarters of the Maiduguri Command in Borno State from 29 Battalion, Port Harcourt.

While driving in his Toyota Corolla with registration number LSR 22 AJ along with his dog, the gunmen intercepted and abducted him along the road, a military signal obtained by SaharaReporters revealed.
Other travellers were also abducted by the gunmen.

Displaying rare boldness and bravery, the signal revealed that the Army captain attacked the gang of kidnappers and disarmed one of them who had an AK-47.

According to the signal, he subsequently engaged the other kidnap gang members and set other victims free, along with his dog.

He reportedly recovered one locally fabricated Barretta pistol, one magazine and 5× 9mm ammunition.

It read, “At about 301530hrs Capt JO Abalaka (n/15198) while on pass FM 29 BN Port Harcourt to report to his new unit in MCCC theater comd maiduguri was kidnapped by unknown gunmen along rd ekpoma-okene-lokoja while driving in his toyota corrola car Reg No LSR 22 AJ along with his dog, an officer was able to disarm one of the gun men and engaged the kidnappers and successfully extricated himself, his dog and other kidnapped victims.

“Items recovered from the kidnappers include 1× locally fabricatted barreta pistol, 1× magazine and 5× 9mm ammo. Recovered wpn and ammo have been submitted at AHQ GARR for further action.”
