President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commissioned the M18 road infrastructure in the Guzape District of Abuja, naming it after the late Professor Chinua Achebe.
IGBERE TV reports that Achebe was a renowned Nigerian novelist, poet, and critic.
Achebe, who passed away in 2013, is celebrated for his seminal work, âThings Fall Apartâ (1958), which remains the most widely studied, translated, and read African novel. His âAfrican Trilogyâ includes âNo Longer at Easeâ (1960) and âArrow of Godâ (1964).
A video of the commissioning was shared by the special adviser to the president on Social media, Dada Olusegun.
The development follows President Tinubuâs recent naming of the Northern Parkway road in Abuja after another Nigerian literary icon, Wole Soyinka.
These gestures are part of the commissioning of various projects in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to mark the presidentâs one year in office.
