Former Nigerian lawmaker, Senator Daniel Bwala, has suggested that the minimum wage should be around N250,000.
Bwala gave the suggestion on Monday while fielding questions on TVC News programme monitored by IgbereTV
The statement is coming amid ongoing industrial action by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and Trade Union Congress, TUC, over failure to reach agreement with the federal government on national minimum wage.
“In terms of being realistic to food inflation and cost of living in Nigeria generally, N60,000 is nowhere. Even the federal government is not denying that. I don’t think anybody in his right sense will say what the Labour Union is asking is nonsensical. No. It’s deserving but not realistic.
