Abia-born cleric, Rev Chika Ubani has urged the Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti to govern the state with sincerity, and shun falsehood and propaganda.
The cleric made the call in a chat with journalists on Tuesday in Abuja, while answering questions on the one year anniversary of Governor Alex Otti.
“I’m a big supporter of Governor Alex Otti and I am one of the people from Abia South that voted for him in the 2023 governorship election. Yes, he is reconstructing roads in Abia done by former Governor Orji Uzor Kalu; it is proper he tells Abians to constructed the roads and who abandoned them instead of trying to destroy the image of others.
“I listened to the Obi of Onitsha talking about 24 years of wilderness. Those roads: Ehi, Kent and Old Court—were built by former Governor Orji Uzor Kalu, and I am happy that he is reconstructing them and others. I urge him to give proper credit and shun propaganda, falsehood and lies to move the state forward.
“I was worried when his team told Nigerians that Aba is now having 24/7 electricity. I received so many calls from eminent Nigerians calling to verify if it was true. Why not inform Nigerians what is happening instead of using propaganda to deceive Nigerians. It is wrong to tag our state as normal just to score cheap political points.
“We have had Dr. Chris Akomas (a one-time Senior Special Assistant on Education and later Commissioner for Lands and Survey, then deputy to former governor T.A. Orji); High Chief Johnny Ukpabi (Commissioner for Agriculture), Dr. Sam Ahiwe (Health), Awa Kalu SAN (Attorney General), Dr Mrs Ori Obasi (Education) and Arua Arunsi among others serve the state as commissioners; are we saying these men kept Abia in wilderness. It is time for him to focus on governance and stop propaganda.”
