The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, has assured Nigerian youths that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is committed to harnessing their potential for national development.
Akume made this known when a high-level delegation from the Afro-Arab Youth Council (AAYC) led by its Secretary-General, Dr. Abbas Agaba, paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by Director of Information in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Segun Imohiosen, Akume said: “The interest of the youths is key in the heart of Mr. President, as exemplified by the appointment of young individuals into key positions of authority.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda of this administration is youth-centric, and we are determined to empower our young people to reach their full potential”, he said.
The SGF expressed gratitude to the Council for appointing a Nigerian, Comrade Akoshile Mukhtar, as its Regional Coordinator in West Africa, and encouraged them to continue their good work in advancing the cause of youths across Africa.
Also speaking, the Minister of State for Youth Development, Mr. Ayodele Olawande, thanked President Tinubu for giving the youth a voice in the Renewed Hope Agenda and assured him of their support towards the actualization of his vision for a better Nigeria.
The AAYC has indicated interest in extending its frontiers to Nigeria, and all official procedures are being followed for its ratification through the Ministry of Youth Development in conjunction with the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).
Dr. Agaba, the Secretary-General of AAYC, thanked President Tinubu for providing an enabling environment for youths to participate in governance, as seen in the choice of his cabinet members.
He also appealed to the government to accord Comrade Mukhtar the necessary support to carry out his assignment effectively.
The highlight of the visit was the conferment of the Custodian of the Afro-Arab Youth Council on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the presentation of the Council’s magazines to the SGF.
The Afro-Arab Youth Council (AAYC) is an international youth organization that works towards the realization of the ideals and strategies of the African Union (AU) and the Arab League.
