Peter Obi has expressed deep sorrow over the persistent terrorist attacks in Plateau, Benue, and other parts of Nigeria.
In a recent statement, Obi specifically condemned the tragic attack in Zurak village, Wase LGA, Plateau State, which resulted in the deaths of about 40 people and left many others hospitalized.
“The recent reports of an attack in Zurak village in Wase LGA of Plateau State, which has left about 40 people dead and many others hospitalized, remains a very sad one, which must be condemned in strong terms,” Obi stated.
He emphasized that these repeated attacks, particularly in Plateau, have become alarmingly frequent, causing significant concern. Obi urged the government to take decisive action to protect the lives and property of Nigerians.
“I call on the government to rise to its responsibilities of securing the lives and property of Nigerians with corresponding actions,” he urged. “Above all, we must take every necessary measure to drastically reduce insecurity in the nation by investing in the critical areas of human development: education, health, and lifting people out of poverty.”
Obi extended his condolences to the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, the government, and the people of Plateau State, especially the bereaved families, over this tragic event. “May God grant eternal rest to the dead and quick recovery to the hospitalized,” he added.
