The right-wing evangelical pastor, Jesse Duplantis, said on live TV that the reason for Jesus’s absence is that congregations do not give enough money to their churches.
During the four-day event ‘Victorython’ on the Victory channel, the pastor shamed church-goers for not doing enough.
He said: “I honestly believe this – the reason why Jesus hasn’t come is because people are not giving the way God told them to give.”
He claimed that if more money is donated then Jesus’ return will “speed up”.
Duplantis, who has previously been criticised for asking his followers to donate for a private jet, made the comments on live TV.
Pastor Duplantis then urged people to dial the number advertised on the screen to donate and God will be very happy.
“God the Father would say ‘Jesus, go get ‘em,'” he encouraged.
