The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended Ahmed Mohammed, a 29-year-old resident of Polo High Court, in Maiduguri, for purportedly stealing a Toyota Highlander in Borno State with the intention of reselling it in Bauchi.
Spokesman of the Command, SP Ahmed Wakili in a statement issued on Tuesday said the arrest took place on February 24, 2024, following credible intelligence provided to the State Intelligence Department (SID).
The Suspect was said to have been apprehended in the Bayan Gari Area of Bauchi with the stolen vehicle registered as ABC-65PK.
Wakili disclosed that Investigations revealed that the suspect was employed as a driver by a company owned by his secondary school classmate called Damuli Investment Company Ltd. in Maiduguri, Borno State.
He added that the suspect reportedly fled with the car to Bauchi with the intent to sell it out for N2,000,000 and use the money to pay his house rent and to welcome his estranged wife back home.
“The Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Mohammed, has ordered further investigation in Borno State to uncover additional motives behind the suspect’s actions,” Wakil stated.
