Economic hardship: Man allegedly trampled to death after falling at Customs' office while trying to get rice

A man has allegedly died after people stamped on him at the Nigeria Customs Service office while trying to get rice.

The Customs on Friday, February 23, commenced the sale of seized bags of rice to the public at the rate of N10,000 per 25kg.

A medical doctor, Yemoka Adunola, who disclosed this via X on Friday night, said the man fell while in the queue and before he could get up, the crowd stamped on him.

“A man just died in my hospital, he was stamped on after falling at the custom office trying to get rice. He was on the queue with his wife when he fell down and couldn’t get up on time which resulted in people stamping on him. So sad. Survived by very young children. Naija,” she wrote.
