Ejigbo Local Council Development, Lagos State, has held a memorable celebration in honour of the retiring Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Ejigbo Divisional Police Headquarters, CSP Shonubi Maryam Adesola.
Hosted by the Executive Chairman, Alhaji Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello (OBE), the retirement party was held at the Gee-Dee Event Centre, Idimu Road, on Thursday 1st February, 2024.
CSP Shonubi was posted to Ejigbo Divisional Police Headquarters in 2023 as the DPO, however she clocked 35 years in service to the Nigeria Police Force on Thursday 1st February, 2024, thus, her retirement party was held in grand style.
While congratulating her on behalf of his family and the people of Ejigbo, the Executive Chairman appreciated her for her skill and style of handling crime in the Local Council, ensuring Ejigbo is free and safe.
Adding that she is a wonderful sister, the Council Boss further described the retiring DPO as a good listener and a diligent officer who always chooses to be on the rule of law.
Others who shared testimony of their relationship with CSP Shonubi described her as a great woman worthy of emulation, a good woman even beyond the police work, a disciplined, humble, neat, elegant, simple and sociable woman. Her great cooking skill was also praised.
In attendance at the event were : the Executive, Legislative and Management Teams of the Local Council, Police officers of various ranks, members of the Community Development Committee (CDC) and the community at large, members of various Islamic Organisations, members of social and humanitarian groups which the retiring DPO aligns with, royal chiefs from the Local Council, the Youth Council,vthe PCRC, family, friends and colleagues of the retiring DPO, other security officials, e.t.c.
CSP Shonubi Maryam Adesola was enlisted into the Force on February 1, 1989. She has served in several commands of the federation and formations. She retired as the DPO of Ejigbo Division. She was awarded the best DPO in handling cases of gender based and domestic violence related offences, by the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Beyond her service to the Nigeria Police Force, the retiring DPO has passion for hospitality, social work, humanitarian service, e.t.c. She is the CEO of Maladoc Catering Services.
At her retirement party, she received lots of valuable gifts from guests. Ejigbo Council Chairman also gifted her a shop at Iyana-Ejigbo, a mini-bus and a cow (used for the celebration).
The new DPO, CSP Veronica Ameh, was introduced to the Stakeholders and guests, and the Council Chairman has extended the Council’s readiness to work with and celebrate her.
