On Monday, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, inaugurated Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie, the immediate-past factional Speaker of the State House of Assembly, as the Chief of Staff at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
In addition to Ehie, five new Special Advisers were sworn in, including Hon. Solomon Ben Eke, former chairman of Obia/Akpor local government area, and Dr. Darlington Orji, the former Chief of Staff of Ikwerre local government area. Other appointees were Barrister Aminayanasam Fiberesima, Engr. Deeyah Bariene, and Ohia Prince.
Ehie, who resigned from his position as speaker and vacated his assembly seat on December 31, 2023, was among those addressed by Governor Fubara at the swearing-in ceremony.
During the address, Governor Fubara warned the newly appointed Chief of Staff and Special Advisers against sabotaging his government. He emphasized that his administration and its challenges had been entrusted to God, expressing confidence in divine intervention that would astonish the world.
He stated that the purpose of governance is to render services even in the face of difficulties and their appointment serves as evidence that concrete machinery was being put in place to help solve those problems.
Fubara urged the appointees to see their appointment as a call to duty, rise to the occasion of adding value to governance and demonstrate that they are truly credible men of the State.
