The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has issued a cautionary alert, highlighting the potential for unrest associated with the widely circulated slogan ‘no gree for anybody,’ particularly among the youth demographic.
This catchphrase, now pervasive on Nigerian social media platforms and streets alike, conveys a resolute stance against tolerating any form of misconduct or intimidation from others.
Essentially, it encourages individuals not to succumb to bullying and to stand firm against any unwarranted behavior.
However, in a press briefing in Abuja, spokesperson for the Nigeria Police, Muyiwa Adejobi, said intelligence reports show that the slogan is capable of plunging Nigeria into a crisis of massive proportions.
Adejobi said though it is being seen as a normal slogan, the security community views it as dangerous.
“The new slogan for 2024 for young people is ‘no dey gree for anybody’,” Adejobi said.
“We have been informed from our intelligence that this is coming from the retributionary sector that might likely cause problems across the country.
“No dey gree for anybody is being seen as just normal talk. In the security community, we have seen it as a very dangerous slogan that can trigger crises.”
