Senate Summons Ribadu, IGP, Security Chiefs, DSS Over Plateau Killings

The Senate has issued summons to key figures, including the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and various service chiefs, requesting their appearance to elucidate the circumstances surrounding the Christmas attacks that resulted in the loss of nearly 200 lives in Plateau State communities.

Among those called upon are Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff; Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff; Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector General of Police; Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, Director General of the National Intelligence Agency; and Yusuf Bichi, Director General of the Department of State Services.

This decision transpired during a Senate plenary on Saturday, spurred by a motion raised by Senator Adams Oshiomhole and seconded by Senator Sumaila Kawu.

Oshiomhole emphasized the public’s discontent with the chiefs and stressed the imperative for an explanation regarding the lack of adequate intelligence preceding the attacks.
