The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeriuka Onyejiocha, has expressed huge shock at the passing of Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.
IgbereTV reports that Akeredolu died on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at 67.
In a condolence message issued on Wednesday afternoon, Onyejiocha said Governor Akeredolu’s demise has left a huge vacuum.
According to the minister, Akeredolu’s legacy extends far beyond his official title.
“His staunch advocacy for democracy shone brightly during his tenure as President of the Nigerian Bar Association.
“His keen legal mind, honed as a former Attorney-General of Ondo, served him and the people well.
“But perhaps his most impactful attribute was his support for women. He consistently created platforms for them to rise and demonstrate their leadership capabilities.
“Though grief weighs heavily on our hearts, it’s important to remember Akeredolu not for his absence but for the vibrant energy he brought to life.
“He dedicated himself to his family, his state, and his country, leaving behind a legacy etched in accomplishments,” she stated.
She expressed her condolences to the deceased’s family, noting that the late governor’s star “will forever shine in the constellation of those who made Nigeria a brighter place.”
