Yesterday, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, officially inaugurated Greenwich Gardens—a noteworthy 101-unit housing development initiated by the Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in collaboration with the Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
Distinguished as the initial endeavor of its kind by a local council, this housing project encompasses a diverse array of residences, including 66 two-bedroom flats, 14 three-bedroom semi-detached houses, one four-bedroom detached house, and 20 three-bedroom terraces.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that Greenwich Gardens stands as a pivotal contribution, addressing the need for improved housing conditions within the Agboyi-Ketu locality, thereby enhancing the living standards of Lagos residents.
He said: “This estate will provide another livable community and add value to the ambience of this environment. It will improve economic activities in this entire community. You can see the whole of Lagos is turning into a mega city. If Ketu can get it right, then there is an opportunity for all the other communities in the state.
“ Government at the state and national levels cannot do it alone. We as a government understand the challenges of housing in the state. We know that the deficit is huge so we have to think out of the box. We have to collaborate with the private sector to create an enabling environment for them to thrive.”
The governor commended the chairman of Agboyi Ketu, Mayor Dele Osinowo and acknowledged the doggedness of the first Chairman of the LCDA, Mrs. Yetunde Arobieke, who kick-started the project.
Oshinowo said the housing project represented the visionary ability of his administration to establish a new voyage for grassroots development in the country.
