A Nigerian Scholar from Isuochi in Abia State COMR. UCHE OGBUAGU (DONCHEZ) BAGGED Distinction (First Class) in his Third Master’s Degree Program From The University of Newcastle Australia.

PROFILE OF AN ACADEMIC ACHIEVER

His name is Comr. Uche Ogbuagu. He was born to the Ogbuagu family in Obinolu Chukwu in Ngodoukwu kingdom, Isuochi in Umunneochi LGA of Abia State, Nigeria. He started his early education at Ngodo State Primary School (County). He proceeded to Obinolu Secondary Technical School upon passing his First School Leaving Certificate. Soon after passing the West African School Certificate with high grades, he secured admission into the University of Nigeria Nsukka where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. As a lion, he became hungrier and vowed not to limit himself to a first-degree certificate. Therefore, he applied to the University of Newcastle, Australia for a master’s program in Human Resource Management. After that, he started a master’s degree program in Social Change and Development that made him bag MSCD at the same University of Newcastle. As hungry as he has become for academics, he also had an MBA (Advanced) from Torrens University, Australia. By this, he has bagged three master’s degrees and one bachelor’s degree. As a matter of fact, Uche has done well in academics in the diaspora. In his third master’s degree, he took it all, as he bagged a distinction (First class) with a 6.0 GPA. He is a distinctive Master of Social Change and Development as awarded to him today, the 14th of December 2023 by the University of Newcastle, Australia.

Achieving these feats was not without their challenges. Having lost both parents, Uche faced the difficulty of sourcing funds to not only take care of himself but to pay his school fees and other necessary fees needed for his education.

Uche faced the economic hardships that plagued the average Nigerian youth head-on. He started taking up menial jobs to save money and pay his bills. While he was not too proud of the outcome of his bachelor’s degree, Uche vowed to go for his master’s and return with an excellent result. With that determination, he started saving for his master’s program, and he secured admission into one of the best universities in Australia, the University of Newcastle, and this was where he obtained his first master’s degree certificate.

At this point, one might say he has achieved it all, but that was not the case for him. It was indeed another phase with its unique challenges. Now living in a city considered one of the Ten most expensive cities in the world, according to the latest Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) report, Uche once again was tasked with the challenges of working and schooling. This time, he began putting off present self-pleasure in pursuit of a better life. He was determined to be success-driven and focused on his academics. With this mindset, he was able to gain two more master’s degree certificates.

One slogan that kept Uche going is – I Look Ahead. This phrase was a constant reminder of where he was coming from and the need to reach his goal. The decision to see nothing impossible in his path of success, keep off negative thoughts, and surround himself with friends of like minds propelled him to this height and success.

Uche’s story is truly one of exceptional and remarkable impact. It is one in which he took the lemons thrown at him and turned them into a lemonade.

He is immensely grateful for all the love, support and guidance he received from family, friends and well wishers thus far.

Uche Ogbuagu is an academician, and he has made Ndi Igbo and Nigeria proud in Australia today.
