Minister seeks inclusion of women in peace building process

The Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has canvassed the inclusion of women in the nation’s peace building process.

The Ministry’s Head, Press and Public Relations, Grace Njoku, made this disclosure in a statement posted on the official X handle of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation on Saturday.

According to the statement, the minister made the call in Abuja during the 4th Annual Forum of Women, Peace and Security Sector Reference Group organised by the Ministry of Women Affairs, in collaboration with United Nations Women and Nigerian Police Force.

She stated that women, by their natural endowment, have the resilience to tenaciously work towards ensuring a safe and united society that will provide an enabling environment for socio-economic growth and development of any nation.

“Kennedy-Ohanenye informed that no peace talk can be actualized without the involvement of women in the process because they occupy a vital position in society, as mothers, daughters and sisters,” the statement said.

The minister advised Nigerian women to strive to attain heights in their respective careers in order to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of the nation
