Bode George, the former deputy national chairman (south) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), warns that the party could face oblivion if a northerner emerges as its presidential candidate in 2027.
George criticizes certain PDP members advocating for a northern presidential candidate in the upcoming 2027 election.
With the 2027 elections on the horizon, Nigerians will cast their votes for a president and national assembly members.
During a press conference in Lagos on Monday, the PDP chieftain asserts that no northern party member should vie for the presidential ticket in 2027.
In the lead-up to the 2023 presidential election, George and fellow PDP leaders advocated for zoning the party’s presidential ticket to the southern region.
However, the party faced internal division when Atiku Abubakar, a northern candidate and former vice-president, won the PDP presidential primary.
