A teacher named Akanni Sunday in Osun State has been apprehended by the Department of State Services (DSS) on charges of allegedly raping and impregnating his 16-year-old JSS 2 student, Anifat Ahmed.
Sunday, employed at Tourchlife Premier School in Aga, Ido Osun, also faces accusations of attempting to abort the pregnancy.
Citizen Lola Wey, a human rights activist, brought the case to the attention of the DSS in pursuit of justice for the girl.
Anifat told newsmen that, “Our teacher, Akanni Sunday, said I should come to his house to collect my French notebook. When I got there, he took me to his room and I later realised that he was alone at home. I shouted for help but nobody was there to help me. That was how he removed my clothes and raped me.”
